Life Update

I am so sorry that I haven’t uploaded for a very long time. In these 2 months, a lot has happened for me. I haven’t been out for about 2 weeks and the Coronavirus has been in full force as you guys probably know. I have made a re-start during this time, so I’m going to update you on what has happened to me.

University life

I have been attending a university in Vancouver, Canada from September 2017, but I left on April 2019. I didn’t leave because I didn’t want to study anymore but I wanted to change the subject I was studying. Even though I did complete 2 years of university in Vancouver, I made the decision to start all over again with my studies and start fresh and new and not do any credit transfers. So, where am I for university right now and what have I chosen for my new major? I have started my new university in Brisbane, Australia from February 2020 and my major is in the tourism and hospitality area. I have wanted to study it from when I initially applied for university, however I decided on the university in Vancouver with a major of international relations. However, after 2 years of actually studying it, it didn’t feel right for me and I was loosing the motivation to study. So, I decided it was the right timing for me to change my university and start again. I have studied tourism for about a month and a half, and it is so much more interesting and I finally have regained my love of gaining new knowledge. Also, university life for me is so much more exciting and fun.

Deciding to head back

I flew to Brisbane on 14th of February to start my university life, but I am in Tokyo right now. I started university from the final week of February and have enjoyed the normal university student life of going to classes, talking to friends until late at night, reading my textbooks, and so on. Because Australia is an island country, coronavirus wasn’t really a hot topic back then. However, in the middle of March there was a sudden increase in patients. Even though it wasn’t anything close to a pandemic, Australia took good use of the fact that it is an island country and started closing their borders. At first it was only China, South Korea, and Italy which were the same as many other countries, but the countries started increasing in the matter of a few days. In the end of the 2nd week of March some of the states started to shut their borders and in response to that supermarkets were low in stock.  As I lived in a dorm, where the transportation is not that good and you can’t just run to the supermarket, securing food was a big problem. By that time my university had already stated that they were going online fully for the trimester and even for the final exam which are scheduled in late May. After calling my parents multiple times, we decided that there is no meaning of me staying in Australia and it was time for me to head back to Japan. Also, Australia had stated that their major airline companies were going to cancel international flights until the end of May. The flight that I took on March 25th ended up being the last direct flight from Brisbane to Tokyo.

Life in Japan

I have been in Japan since March 25th but I haven’t been outside until today(4/10). I have been out to my porch, but I decided before coming back that I would self quarantine myself for 2 weeks. In those 2 weeks a lot has changed for Japan, and the government has declared a state of emergency including Tokyo, where I live. Fortunately I am now living with my parents because they have kept my room. So I don’t need to worry about cooking a meal or going out grocery shopping. Today I went out for the first time after coming back from Brisbane but I only went to the local supermarket and convenience store. I also did go to my local cake store because I really wanted one. I am planning to eat it after dinner as a dessert. I’m going to do a quick update about my family as well. My dad has been going to work as usual. My dad’s company has over 80% of their workers, work from home but because of my father’s position he is still going to work everyday. However, he doesn’t eat outside for work and he comes home pretty early compared to usual. Also he goes to work at 6:30AM which is usual so he is not in the packed train. My mother is a stay-at-home wife so she only goes out for grocery shopping. For me I am staying at home unless I am going to my local supermarket or pharmacy until the end of May when the state of emergency is going to end as of now. I am going to think about things later than that, when it gets closer to that time. For the moment I have been spending my time at home as usual and have been attending online classes. Especially from now I have a lot of papers to submit and exams to study for, so I’m going to work hard on them. For now my family is safe and sound and healthy at home so please do not worry about us.

This will be the end of my life update. There has been a lot of events during the 2 months but I hope you got up to date with me on everything. If you have any questions please comment them here or on instagram or twitter. I will definitely be uploading a blog every week from now so please come have a look when you’re bored. I hope I can do something to make your quarantine life a little bit easier and happier. Please keep in mind the quote “Not meeting anyone so that I can meet someone again”, and please stay at home and keep safe!

A Round Up of 2019

Happy New Year!!

I had a lot going on in 2019 and a lot of it I haven’t mentioned here. I would like to go a little bit into that and go through 2019 briefly. I would start with January and go through until December and slightly go into 2020.

January: Coming-of-Age Ceremony

I was in Vancouver, Canada for my 2nd semester of 2nd grade of university from January to March. This ceremony is very special to a lot of Japanese so I was looking forward to it for a long time. This ceremony is once in a lifetime because you only get to attend when you turn 20 years old, which is an indication of adulthood in Japan. I also got to own a special kimono called “furisode”, so I would love to wear that to my friend’s wedding someday.

February: Whistler

My parents came to visit me and we went up to Whistler, which is a very famous place to ski. My parents actually have lived in Vancouver before I was born, so it is a special place for them. So, they visited me once each year during the two years I was there.

April: Disney

April was the month between my 2nd semester and my summer semester, so I went back to Japan. During that time I went to Disney Sea with my best friend, and Disney Land with my mother. We had great weather and not that much crowd for both days, and as a Disney mania myself, I was pleased with the Disney trip. This photo is from a jazz bar, where I went with my parents.

June: Vancouver

For May and June, I took summer semesters so I went back to Vancouver. My mom came to Vancouver to help me withdraw all my luggage and to also have some fun. We had a day trip to Seattle by bus from Vancouver and played golf 2 times as well.

August: Maldive & Thailand

From July onto February of 2020, I am back in Tokyo with my parents. We went to Maldive and Thailand for this summer vacation. Every summer vacation we go to different countries. This year I wanted to go to Maldive so these two countries were picked. The two were very different, so it was added to one of the trips I can’t forget for the rest of my life.

October: Golf

I finally got to play golf with my parents. I have never learned golf professionally but I always have learnt it from my father. So, playing golf with my family is always a joy. Golf is a sport that you can do for your whole life so I want to improve and keep on playing it forever. I haven’t been able to break 100 so that’s my goal for now.

November: Driver’s License

It was kind of a slow start for me but I started trying to get my driver’s license on this month. I had my permit in New York and was able to drive around so I didn’t have that much fear in driving. I was able to get my actual driver’s license on the 1st week of December. I haven’t driven ever since but I would like to soon.

December: Disney & Christmas

I can’t believe it’s 2020 already but 2019 has ended somewhat peacefully. I went to Disneyland with my mother and aunt. It was a warm and not so crowded day as well. We also celebrated Christmas with a chicken and cake for dinner. I was so blessed that I was able to eat the Christmas cake from my favourite cake shop.

This is the end of my 2019 round up. It was very fast but how was it? I was pretty tired mentally the first half because of my university, but I finally decided to change university and in the latter half I was busy getting ready for that. However, I think 2019 was a very happy year for me. I’m going to start a new life in Australia this year so I would like to challenge some new things. 2020 will be a year of change and a year that I need to work hard, so I would like to brace myself and work on each thing. I would also like to work harder on this blog and upload more to get closer to my dream. You will get to see more of my 2019 memories on my instagram, so please have a look. (@lisa__heidi, there are 2 underbars)

I will upload this year’s goals probably tomorrow or the day after so please have a look at that too.

I hope all of you have a wonderful and healthy 2020. I pray for your success this year.

Favourite Quotes

This week I am going to share with you my favourite quotes that I keep with myself. There are 5 of them and every quote has a different meaning for me and I keep every one of these close to myself. They are also my life mottos so I keep doing what I want to and keep hustling to be what I want to be. Some are by people that everyone knows but some quotes are not known who it was by.

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” -Walt Disney

This is my favourite quote of all time. I have loved it since I encountered it when I was probably about 10 years old. I have loved quotes from Walt Disney himself and Disney movies but, this has an important part in my heart because of the meaning it has to me. I always have had dreams from when I was little, but didn’t have the courage to pursue them till the end. When I encountered this quote I really thought that I needed to change myself and try to challenge myself and keep on trying for my dreams.

“The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.” -Unknown

This is a quote similar to what my mother told me from when I was little and I encountered this actual quote when I was around 8 years old. I really keep this to myself because it is usual and easy to compare yourself to other people in this world. However, no-one is the same as you and you just have to be better than the past you.

“If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right. Since then, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘ If today was the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer was ‘No!’ for too many days in a row, I know I needed to change something.” -Steve Job

This is a quote that I encountered in my high school public speech class. This is a part of the commencement address that Steve Jobs gave at Stanford University. When I encountered this to remember a short speech for my class in high school, I was amazed at the meaning of death and to live each day as if it was your last.

“Yes, YOU are enough!” -Unknown

I encountered this quote when I was watching Pinterest. (my account: @lisa__heidi) I love looking for amazing quotes on Pinterest and was drawn to this because of the nice background and the quote itself. As I said it is easy to compare yourself to other people and think that you’re not enough. Also, these days there is more things to accomplish and more things you want to achieve. These things might leave you feeling like you’re not enough but that is not the case. You are enough as you are right now but might have the potential to be better. This quote always reminds me that there is only room for growth but you don’t have to force yourself to if you don’t want to.

“Be a girl with a mind, a woman with attitude, a lady with class.” -Unknown

This is also a quote that I encountered on Pinterest. I love this quote because this is literally what I want to be. I would really love to be a person that is not only cute and pretty but someone who has wisdom and is elegant. I would love to be someone that people look up to not only because of her looks but also for her inner beauty like her knowledge, manners, kindness, and etc.

These were my favourite quotes which I keep to myself and remind myself often. I love keeping quotes to myself and for a very long time I have a quote everyday. These are quotes that I will probably keep for my lifetime but my everyday quotes will be made according to my daily schedule and how I’m feeling on that particular day. I love keeping a quote because it keeps me going and keeps me in a positive mood or any kind of feeling I want to be on that certain day. I hope every one of you have a very good day and encounter some great quotes along your life.

My Relax Methods

I have been very busy these past month or so. I want to do my best this year. One of my resolution for this year is to take care of my mental health so relaxing for me is very important. This is just my style of relaxing so it might not work for you.

  1. Reading (books, magazines)

Reading books for me is a relaxing thing to do. Of course the book or magazine I read will differ according to that day and how I’m feeling. For me a book can take me anywhere around the world only by looking at the words. I was reading about 100 books a year when I was in middle school, so I have loved to read since I was very little. Also, I feel like I am cuter or confident when I read magazines. I often read beauty magazines when I want to relax. You can of course read comic books but I don’t.

2. Listen to Music and Dance/ Watch Concert Videos

Next is blast your favourite music and dance to it. I recommend you to do this where no one is watching, so that you can do this without bothering or caring about anyone’s glance or stare. This has nothing to do with your skills of dancing so just dance as you like. I do this method a lot and it makes me sweat so I get to relax a lot. Also, I sometimes watch concert videos of my favourite artists. At that time you can dance to it or sing or do calls as if you’re at the concert hall with them.

3.Have a Bath

Next is to have a relaxing bath. This might be especially for someone is comfortable having a bath. Having a bath has an effect of detoxing because you sweat. By sweating you have a relaxing effect and a refreshing effect. I first make a bath, put in a good smelling bath bomb, and make a nice mood with some candles. However, having a long bath is bad for you. Being in too long might lead you to be more tired in the end.

4. Watch Youtube Videos

This can be only recommended to people that like to watch youtube but watching MVs and variety shows featuring your favourite artist is relaxing. I also line to see my favourite youtuber’s videos or beauty or game videos according to my mood at that time.

5. Immerse into what You Love

Do something what you love and don’t think about anything else. Surprisingly you would be thinking about work or study even when you’re doing your hobby. So, in these times do your hobbies and immerse into it. Realizing the time was later than what you thought would be a good sign. Finding something and doing what would make you smile naturally is maybe the best relaxation technique.

6. Zone Out

Last is to just zone out and think about nothing. Just live in the time and wait for a certain time to pass. I do this relaxation technique when I feel I’m super busy and rushed. So, just have a warm drink and something sweet to nibble on and just zone out. The time won’t be long like an hour it would be just 15 to 30 minutes. Having some time to just relax and live in the moment is sometimes very important.

These are the things that I would do to relax. You always need sometime to relax living a life in 2019. So just take some time aside and live where you can balance your mental health as well as your physical health. Take some time for yourself and love yourself first than love others.

People that I look up to

Hello, I am back with another post. I hope I’m keeping everyone entertained with the things I’m posting every week. I think there are so many opportunities that you can encounter someone that you really look up to. Those people might be people you know in real life and some people might be just you knowing them from the internet or the TV. I have 4 people that I really look up to. 2 of them are people that are really close to me and I have met and the other 2 are people I only know through the internet and TV.
1. My parents
For me my parents are people that I look up to. I know good things and bad things about my parents however they are still people that I admire. I would really want to be a mother that is looked up to by her own children.  Some points that go both with my parents are that they never say negative things about their life. They live quite a busy life but never say negative things and just do the things they need to do one by one. Also, this might be something usual for parents they always love me whatever I do. This doesn’t mean that they always spoil me, they scold me when I do something bad but I can feel that the love is what is in the base of whatever they do to me. Next, I will introduce my father.
My father is always eager to study and improve himself. He is still working and he always go to work before his co-workers come to work and do his own work and comes back home really late and still does work at home. Also, he doesn’t need to study but he studies anyways to do his work more efficiently and because he is interested in what he is studying. His field of studying doesn’t stop on his own speciality, he studies current events happening all over the world and what he studied at elementary, middle, high school, and university. When I have any questions I go to him and ask him questions because he is really good at teaching things to me.
Next is my mother. My mother is a housewife but she always is regulating herself. My mother always wakes up my father at 5:30AM and goes to bed at around 11:00PM without taking any naps or going back to bed after my father goes out. If I was her I would probably take a nap after having lunch but she says she feels bad taking a nap when my dad and I are studying or working. Also, she cooks delicious and healthy food for us. Meal time is something I always look forward to when I go back home, since I’m living away from my parents. I also now know how hard it is to cook a meal since I sometimes cook by myself and I respect her more.
2. Satomi Ishihara
「石原さとみ」の画像検索結果
She is a Japanese actress that is really famous in Japan because of her adorable looks and cute gestures despite her age. She is also famous for her really genuine and nice personality and her correspondence with the staff and fans. She is always smiling and is very polite with anyone she encounters. I think a lot of people know this if you are familiar with her but she actually does her own makeup when she is acting. She stays up at night and thinks about the role she has and thinks what kind of makeup she will wear. She once said in an interview that this process of thinking about the role gets her to be the role more and ends up to better acting skills. Also, she is always looking for chances to improve herself and eager for a new challenge coming in her way. She is always updating herself and always now is the best version of herself.
3. Victoria from “In the Frow”
Maybe not that many people knows her but she is a “girl boss” icon and fashion icon for me. She is a blogger that owns the website “In the Frow” and she has an instagram and twitter account under @inthefrow. She also has a youtube channel under the name “In the Frow”. Please check her out because she is a beautiful person. She is such a hard worker because she knows that is the way to growing herself. She uploads a blog three times a week and a video three times a week as well and everyday for instagram. Also she has a really busy life everyday, her constant uploading on every media with the same fabulous content is outstanding. We can know if we see her everyday vlogs on youtube that she sometimes has downtime, but she always has a smile on her and tries to be the best version of herself when she is on a event or in public. She is my dream and my true and real aspiration for my blog. She is one of the person that I would love to meet someday. Please follow her on any or all medias. She is someone that changed my perspectives about blogging and I’m always looking forward for her to upload a blog or a video.
Are these 4 people the only people I admire? That is not true supermodel Miranda Kerr, my friends, other bloggers, celebrities are others that I can think of. However, these 4 people are the true and real people that I admire and I would like to be older. Hearing about the people that someone admires can let you know what kind of person he/she wants to be. Could you tell what kind of person I wanted to be? Please let me know someone that you admire in the comment section. Sorry for making it a really long post but I hope you had fun. I will see you next week.

University Goals

Hello, I am back with another post. As I just became a second year this September, I thought I should set myself 5 goals that I want to accomplish throughout my university years. The goals are all big and vague but I thought I should put it out into words and up as a blog post to keep me on these goals.

1. Make Many Friends From All Over The World, That Will Last Forever👭

My first goal is to make as many friends as I can possibly imagine. As I am an international student myself, I would love to make as much international friends as possible. (I am not saying I would not make any Canadian friends.) Also I would like to make friends that will last for a life time. As I have moved from places to places, I have found it hard to keep a tight bond with the friends that I make in the previous places that I have lived. However, with the rise of social media and internet it is not that hard to keep a friendship with people. So, my goal is to make friends that will last even after graduating university and moving out of Canada. I would also love to go visit their home country or wherever they are living and meet them for a quick catch up.

2. Find Something That I Really Love❤️

My second goal is to find something that I truly love and be addicted to and to be able to give all my passion for it. University is the last moment that you can truly do anything and explore new things in your life easily. I would love to find something that I truly love because I have never found it. I have been doing all kinds of things throughout my whole life but nothing has stuck with me until now. I would love to start something new or rediscover something and continue doing that thing for the rest of my life. I don’t have limitations for numbers and amounts that I find. So, maybe I will come out of university finding plenty of things that I truly fell in love with. I am determined that blogging will be one of them.

3. Develop Myself From The Inside And Outside✨

My third goal is to develop myself from both in and out. I would love to get more fit in shape and be more cute and attractive to both men and women. I would also love to improve my skills on makeup and gain more knowledge about skincare, health and etc. But I think it’s not only the outside I need work on but also my inside beauty too. I want to read more books and gain more knowledge about everything that I find interesting. I would also love to take more care of myself from the inside, such as what I eat on a daily basis and the thoughts that I have inside me. Positive thinking is way more better for your health and it also affects the way you look. My goal is to become a beautiful and elegant women with knowledge and class.

4.Travel To Places I Have Never Been Before✈️

My fourth goal is to travel all around the world. As I said in my second goal, university is the last time where we can truly have “me time” and have summer vacations when we have 3 months or longer off when we are completely free. I think that I need to take the most out of it and travel to places I didn’t think I ever would. Also, travel takes so much time and money and doing it as a university student will be way more easier. In addition, I think there are numerous things that you can only feel when you are young or places where you can only go when you are young. I hope that I can explore new places and discover new cultures and know myself more deeply as I go along the journey.

5. Study📝

My last goal is to study. Because you got to be honest, you are a university student going to university because you wanted to study not work. Studying is the job for a university student. I know that it can be boring at sometime but it’s worth it in the end. (I hope…) I know I seem like your mother but I feel that way and it is probably the truth. (Stay tuned to see if it is the truth.) Also, university is the best place to study because you get to choose which field you want to study about. You have the best teachers to teach you that and you have amazing fellow students that can help you along the way. How good is that? Can it be any better? I think it can’t!

Sorry this has been such a long post. I hope I have given some inspirations to some people to have goals. To be honest, I wrote these here because if I didn’t I don’t think I will be sticking with them for any time. I think I’ll come back to this post time to time just to reassure myself to the goals. These are my goals but how about yours? Please share them down in the comment section. Also do you guys want to see my 2018 goals?
